Be An Intern In Honduras!

A Cultural Experience

Breathing Latin America means throwing away day planners and wristwatches, drinking coffee with church members in remote mountain villages, waiting for the bus while you wipe the sweat from your upper lip, turning in your Spanish homework to your private teacher, hiking the cloud forest or going to the beach with the church youth group, and taking toilet paper with you wherever you go.

A Spiritual Experience

Praise God in an open air worship service in a mountain village.  Sing at the top of your lungs with fifty children in a small classroom.  Pray with patients at the Lazarus clinic.   Serve others and expand your worldview.  Deepen your own faith as you nurture new relationships with Christians in the churches here.

A Physical Experience

Start sweating as you organize boxes in the Mission Lazarus warehouse, sort medicines for the clinic pharmacy, build a house, paint a classroom, or work on the mission's ranch.

An Emotional Experience

Rejoice with new Christians at their baptism.  Bring presents to sick children in the pediatric ward of the local hospital.  Take food provisions to a hungry family.   Distribute school supplies for children without pencils or paper.  Cry, smile, laugh, and pray often for others and for yourself.

An Educational Experience

Tutor a child.  Translate for visitors.  Research a potential new project.  Work in the Mission Lazarus office.   Make visual aids for school classrooms.  Assist in educational, spiritual, or medical seminars.  Travel on weekends and practice your Spanish.

A Life-changing Experience

"My summer in Honduras has given me the drive that I needed to continue my future into medical school here in the States, but it gave me an understanding and an appreciation for the world... and especially Honduras... that I will never be able to turn my back on."
                Britney Bankhead, Texas A&M University

"Working with Mission Lazarus was truly a blessing to my life. Through living with the people for two months I was able to build relationships with people, and in turn come to view them not as those in need of my help but friends, and more importantly brothers in the body of Christ."
                Erin Dimas, Abilene Christian University

"If you want to see missions from the inside, go.    If you want to grow as a Christian and be stretched in your faith, go.  If you desire to serve and personally touch other people's lives, go.   If you want to see firsthand people who have given their lives to spreading the name of Christ despite challenges, go.  Go even if you feel like you're not good enough or don't know enough.   God will still use you, and He will keep changing you with this internship long after you leave."
                Sarah Dill, Harding University
