Agriculture

Most farmers in Latin America depend entirely on the harvest to live, we partner with our community by providing better jobs.

Agriculture

Most farmers in Latin America depend entirely on the harvest to live, we partner with our community by providing better jobs.

Mission Lazarus operates a early 2,000 acre working ranch producing beef, milk, coffee, vegetables, and a learning environment where the children of the Mission Lazarus Refuge are able to learn responsibility, trust and are empowered to make a difference in this world.

From ongoing agricultural training seminars which train farmers in cost-effective techniques, to cooperative-based projects and seed and fertilizer distribution, Mission Lazarus continues to build relationships with rural mountain communities while God opens doors to teach His Word and reap a harvest all His own.

San Lazaro Estate Coffee

Mission Lazarus stewards a high-impact organic coffee plantation which pays a fair wage to all workers, from pickers to managers, while maintaining a strong commitment to ongoing development throughout the community.  This is evidenced by a program where families are invited to sell their harvest directly to Mission Lazarus at a price equal to or above market value without the middleman.

We have a specific site dedicated to our coffee.  If you would like to know all of the details about our production methods and coffee visit the San Lazaro Estate Coffee site, or click on the link below and shop for a bag of coffee right away.

Sustainable Life Program

Supplies families with livestock such as goat, sheep, chicken or cow, which produces income or consumables, and has reproductive capacity to multiply the stock. This livestock is raised on our ranch which provides jobs and ongoing engagement with the community. The ranch creates hands-on training for opportunities for children from The Refuge children's home.

Education

A key factor for a nation to climb out of poverty is education for its people.

Education

A key factor for a nation to climb out of poverty is education for its people.

Our educational programs are outreaches of local churches to their communities.  As with all of our programs, the services offered are a gesture of love and no religious affiliation is required to be blessed by the program.  The only requirement for enrollment is to have legitimate need.

Early Childhood Development Centers (ECDC)

All of the children the ECDC’s receive a Christian education as well as two meals a day. These center focus on serving at risk children in vulnerable communities in Honduras and Haiti.

Vocational Schools

We provide a basic education as well as a practical trade to at-risk youth in isolated communities. This education provides tangible benefits for the students' families and its future generations. Students complete a primary education through a government approved program and vocational education through sewing, shoemaking, leather-smithing, and carpentry.

Education Center (MLEC) - Haiti

Opening in the fall of 2014, the MLEC was created as a response to the overwhelming amount of orphanages in Haiti.  Partnering with mothers who cannot provide for their children, the MLEC will be an option for children instead of being left at orphanages across the country.

Medical

The medical ministry serves people of minimal financial income and great medical need, by showing Jesus and His Church through direct medical treatment, health education.

The medical ministry functions as an instrument for the people it serves, people of minimal financial income and great medical need, to know Jesus and His Church through direct medical treatment, health education, and direct and indirect evangelism, never denying consultation due to lack of financial resources, and always allowing for glory and recognition to be given first and foremost to Jesus and His Church using Christ’s own example of Preaching, Teaching and Healing.

Spiritual

Spiritual

With a focus on the poor, rural areas in Latin America, Mission Lazarus works daily with local preachers to augment growth in their existing congregations as well as to collaborate in plans for church-planting. If a preacher will plan an outreach, organize it, and see it through, Mission Lazarus will form a collaborative relationship with the preacher to support his work plan.

Refuge

The Refuge exists to restore the dignity of 48 children who have been through difficult circumstances and now call the refuge their home.

Refuge

The Refuge exists to restore the dignity of 48 children who have been through difficult circumstances and now call the refuge their home.

And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.  2 Corinthians 6:18

The Mission Lazarus Refuge, a facility comprised of eight 2,000 square foot homes, provides a family environment for children who have been placed with us by the Honduran government.  The Refuge is focuse on the idividual child.  Our current ratio of caregiver to child is 1:5.  We currently have 48 children who are a part of the Refuge.  The Refuge is a community of families with individual and collective opportunities to share life and provide guidance in how to live, love and learn. We believe that these children are the amazing future of Honduras and deserve to be empowered to chase their dreams.

Social Enterprise

Mission Lazarus believes in economic development as a means to provide for the legacy of a Christian family.  The Social Enterprise program was created to provide dignified wages to coffee workers and leather artisans who’s products are then retailed in gifts shops in Honduras and in the US. This income is shaping the hopes and the dreams of the Social Enterprise employees who now, for perhaps the first time in their lives, are able to provide for their family’s needs.

Since the creation of the first schools in 2002 our program has grown.   Today we have a vocational sewing schools, a leather working school, a boot making school and a carpentry school. The coffee grown at the San Lazaro Estate Coffee Farm is also a major component of our Social Enterprise program.

Our leather products are handmade at the vocational school in San Marcos.

Raised in the mountains of La Botija in Southeastern Honduras is smooth yet bold coffee.
