Smiles Restored - Lives Transformed
Every year, Heartland Dental Foundation partners with Mission Lazarus by serving alongside our medical and dental teams in the remote mountains of Honduras. Using Mission Lazarus facilities and working hand in hand with our local staff, Heartland volunteers provide specialized dental care through two focused clinical areas. One clinic delivers restorative and root canal treatment, while the other focuses on extractions.
In less than a week, this incredible team of hardworking dentists and support staff cared for 103 patients and delivered more than $130,000 in life changing dental services, including 224 extractions, 119 fillings, and 12 root canals.
For many patients, this is not a routine dental visit. It is relief after years of pain, the first healthy smile a child has ever known, and access to care that families could never afford on their own. This work goes far beyond treating teeth. It restores dignity, relieves suffering, and gives people the confidence, health, and hope that come with being free from chronic pain.

Every person is created in the image of God and deserves the opportunity to live an abundant life, now and for eternity. That is our goal at Mission Lazarus. When we meet real physical needs with excellence and compassion, we build trust. Through that trust, we form deep relationships, and it is within those relationships that we have the privilege to share the Good News of Christ.
This is the heart of our work. Not temporary relief, but true transformation. Healthy smiles and clean teeth restore more than comfort. They restore dignity and self worth. Children can go to school without feeling shame about their smile. They can eat without pain and stay focused in class. That same smile, the one that speaks to dignity and self worth, is seen on the faces of the adults we serve as well. Men and women who are able to work, provide for their families, and participate in community life with confidence.
None of this happens by accident. It happens because people choose to care. Because partners and supporters recognize that every child, every parent, every person deserves dignity, health, and the chance to live a full life.
