Little Messengers: How Two Young Boys Are Changing Their Homes Through Faith
What if the strongest voices of faith in a home didn’t come from the parents, but from the children?
At just four and five years old, Sabas Armando Guifarro and Marlon Caleb Vásquez are already making an incredible impact—not only in their classroom but also in their homes.
These two young boys are students at Lazarus Academy, an educational project of Mission Lazarus, located on the Mission Lazarus ranch in the community of Jayacayan, about 15 KM from San Marcos de Colón. But this is no ordinary school—Lazarus Academy is a place where children receive both an academic and spiritual foundation, equipping them with the tools to succeed in life while also nurturing their faith.
Unlike traditional schools, Lazarus Academy integrates Christian discipleship into its curriculum, instilling values, teaching the Bible, and fostering a love for Jesus alongside core subjects like reading, writing, and math.
Many of the children who attend come from low-income families, where access to quality education is limited. At Lazarus Academy, they receive not only top-tier education but also a strong foundation in faith, leadership, and personal growth.
Students are encouraged to pray daily, read the Bible, and worship together, ensuring that their education extends beyond the classroom and into their everyday lives. And for Armando and Caleb, that is exactly what happened.
One day, Armando’s mother approached the Mission Lazarus pastor who teaches the children’s Bible class. With tears in her eyes, she shared how her son had brought the gift of prayer into their home.
"Armandito," as his family lovingly calls him, now insists on praying before meals, before bedtime, and before any daily activity.
"Mommy, I want us to pray just like we do at school with the pastor," he tells her.
Before, prayer was not a regular practice in their home, but now, because of this four-year-old boy’s faith, it has become a family tradition.
Caleb’s story is just as powerful. His mother shared that he constantly sings worship songs he learns in Bible class and eagerly retells every Bible story he hears at school.
What amazes her the most is his joyful enthusiasm—how he passionately explains the lessons he learns each day.
These two little boys are proving that no one is too young to be a messenger of God’s Kingdom. Through their childlike faith, their families are experiencing the power of prayer, worship, and the Word of God in a way they never had before.
This is the heart of Lazarus Academy—not just educating children but raising a new generation of leaders, disciples, and messengers of Christ.
And none of this would be possible without the work of Mission Lazarus and the dedicated pastors and teachers who pour into these children’s lives every day.
Because of your prayers and generous support, this mission continues to grow—bringing hope, education, and faith to the next generation.
