Restoring Dignity - Building for Eternity

For nearly 18 years, Henry has been waking up before dawn, traveling a long distance each day to serve at Mission Lazarus in Honduras. He doesn’t do it for recognition. He does it because, as he says, he loves his work, and because he knows he is serving God.

Henry works with service teams from North America, leading projects that may seem simple at first glance: building latrines in rural communities.

But these projects are about so much more than sanitation.

In the villages where we serve, many families have never had a bathroom. Elderly men and women, some well into their 70s and 80s, have spent their entire lives walking into the bushes, hiding behind rocks and trees. When a latrine is finally built at their home, you can see the gratitude on their faces and often hear them say, “Thank you, Lord, for providing this.”

Now, they have dignity.

Sanitation to Salvation

Through every project, Henry and the teams share something even more important than sanitation: the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Latrines may open the door to safety and health, but they also open hearts. Through these acts of service, lives have been transformed and many have come to Christ.

“Not only in the transformation of souls,” Henry explains, “but also in restoring dignity to the people we serve.”

Thank you for being part of this story. Because of you:

  • Elderly grandparents, young girls, and others have dignity and safety

  • Families and communities are healthier with decreased risk of intestinal illness

  • The Gospel of Jesus Christ is being shared

As we work together, lives are changed, both now and for eternity.
